http://www.tonymacx86.com/attachments/97318-su.jpg.html
Today Apple released 10.9.4, the fourth major update to OS X Mavericks. Update any supported system using the built-in Software Update functionality through the Mac App Store, or by using the standalone installer available from Apple.com.

Be sure to back up any important data, and if possible clone your hard drive before applying the update. If you have any issues post-update, boot using UniBeast and type UseKernelCache=No

What we know about 10.9.4 so far...

  • OS X Build 13E28
  • 13.3.0 Darwin kernel
  • Updated Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD graphics drivers
  • This update will replace your audio drivers.
    • You will have to reinstall AppleHDA using MultiBeast before or after reboot
    • If you use VoodooHDA, you will not need to make any modifications
  • Storage drivers updated - SSD TRIM patch will not work with 10.9.3 patch. Fix will be available in the next MultiBeast.
  • Install OS X Mavericks App Updated - If you downloaded Mavericks from the App Store prior to today, and you want to have the latest version on your backup installer USB, simply log into the Mac App Store and click Download. When the download finishes, the app will automatically open. The updated 10.9.4 Install OS X Mavericks App can be found in the Applications folder. You may then re-create your UniBeast installation USB.

Fractal Design Node 804 Hackintosh

This is an awesome little Fractal Design Node 804, one of the best designed cases. For this build it is running OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 with the following specs:

Intel i7-4790 3.6GHz
16GB Ram
250GB SSD
600W PSU

Its a basic build that packs a punch, not only does it look good it preforms amazingly, there is plenty of room for expansion in this current build it is a back to basics. There is room for SLI/Crossfire GPU's and up to 8 HDDs, 2 SSD's with two at the bottom of the motherboard for either 3.5" or 2.5".

Cable management was easy having dual chambers I was able to hide all cables using cut out in the tray. There is even a 3 speed fan controller that comes stock in this case and it is something that you will either love or hate. For this build it was great just using stock fans and the controller.

For more information on this build please email me.

Install Android L on Nexus 5 & 7

Google brought the news of upcoming Android L this week at Google I/O conference 2014. Set to be publicly released in Fall, Google has released the latest mobile OS for developers so they could test it and create perfectly matching apps. Just kidding! Android L brings not only design changes keeping in line with Material Design but also brings 64-bit support and a shift to ART from Dalvik. Developers are certainly going to love testing it out. Here is how you too can install Android L Developer Preview on your Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices.install android L developer preview on nexus
As always, WCCFTech will not be responsible if anything goes Android in your process of testing it out. It is a test version so be prepared.

How to install Android L developer preview:

Here are the steps to help you install Android L on your Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 devices. As for the usual prerequisites, keep the battery at a full charge (or 70% at least) and create a backup of your data.
Required files: dowload system images for Nexus 5 or Nexus 7  under the Install the L Preview System Image label on the webpage. Also download ADB / Fastboot for Windows OR for MAC and Windows USB Drivers.

  • Extract the content of everything into a single folder and name it Android for the sake of cmd simplicity.

  • On your Windows, open the CMD or a new Terminal on your Mac. Type:

    • cd YOUR_COMPUTER_USERNAME/desktop/android

  • Next, turn your Nexus device off and enter into bootloader mod: use Volume Up Volume Down Power combo for Nexus 5; use Volume Down Power keys for Nexus 7.

  • Now connect your Nexus with the computer via USB cable.

  • To make sure that your device is successfully connected, type:
    •  fastboot devices - for Windows
    • ./fastboot devices - for Mac

  • If not, try re-installing the driver or use a different port.

  • To unlock your Nexus’bootloader:
    • fastboot oem unlock and accept when prompted.

  • Next, we will be flashing the Android L Developer Preview on our Nexus:
    • flash-all.bat - for Windows
    • ./flash-all.sh - for Mac
  • Flashing process will now initiate which can a little while, so be patient.

Unlocked Intel Broadwell Coming 2nd Quarter 2015

VR Zone published a roadmap recently which though doesn’t reveal nothing we don’t already know about Skylake, does reveal the launch date of the Broadwell Unlocked or ‘K’ Series processors. Interestingly however we see no mention of the unlocked counterparts. The Unlocked Broadwell processors are launching in 2Q15 (second quarter of 2015) and will probably get a simultaneous release with Skylake.
1_m

Intel’s 14nm Broadwell ‘K’ Series Launching Q2 2015 Alongside Skylake-S Locked Processors

The above roadmap shows that Broadwell will be launching with unlocked processors while as Skylake S (Desktop Variant) will be launching with the typical locked processors. This is a very interesting turn of events and as has been pointed out in the past, the ease with which Broadwell has slotted into Intel’s schedule is surprisingly efficient. The previous roadmap showed the locked Broadwell processors launching sometime in Q1 2015 but now they have vanished without a trace, which means that Intel is planning to launch directly with unlocked processors (k-series). Since Skylake-S would be launching with locked processors common sense would dictate that both of them are getting a simultaneous release or at least a launch close to each other.
Now I am not really sure what happened to the locked Broadwell processors but because Skylake-S is releasing on top of the same, I doubt we will be seeing them apart from OEMs maybe. It just wouldn’t make sense to have Skylake-S locked SKUs on the market alongside Broadwell locked SKUs. Skylake-S will ship in 3 variants, namely one dual core (physical) and two quad cores variants. One of the quad cores will house 64MB of eDRAM and GT4e graphics. We should see some IPC and clock for clock gains on the Skylake-S processors especially considering they are a new micro architecture on the 14nm node. The HEDT Spectrum of Intel’s processors will still be occupied by Haswell-E by this time. So summarizing:
  • Braodwell will be launching in Q2 2015 with unlocked processors.
  • Skylake will be launching in Q2 2015, most probably alongside Braodwell.
  • Skylakey-S will be launching will locked processors.

AOC 144Hz G-Sync Monitor!

AOC is set to release a new “high end” gaming monitor next month, featuring Nvidia’s G-Sync technology coupled with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. These three features should eliminate screen tearing as well as any possible ghosting effects.
The AOC press release says:
“The g2460Pg redraws the screen more than twice as fast as conventional 60 Hz displays, making eye fatigue and screen tearing problems of the past. Gone are the days of missed targets because of stuttering images that can occur on monitors with low refresh rates. In addition, the integrated DisplayPort connector is the ideal input option for fast and seamless image transmission. Not only do the in-game environments come to life in one super-smooth movement, but also at a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution and in vibrant, bright colours, thanks to a luminosity of 350 cd/cm².”
g2460Pg_front_to_left_codaw_logo
“The g2460Pg’s impressive performance does not come at the cost of sustainability. It comes with the intelligent software solutions Eco Mode and e-Saver to drive down energy consumption. The display also fulfills strict regulations such as EnergyStar 6.0 and TCO 6.0. As with all of its monitors, AOC offers a 3 year warranty with on-site exchange service.”
This new monitor won’t break the bank either, it will be available by the end of next month for £369.

Hopefully down here in Australia we can see it around the same time and for a respectable price.

Google Announces Android Auto, Promises Enabled Cars By The End Of 2014

Today in its sprawling keynote at its I/O event, Google announced Android Auto. The version of Android will be “completely voice enabled” according to the company, and will help users navigate, communicate and listen to music in their cars. The system will be “contextually aware,” Google says, and will allow for hands-free access, an important feature of an experience that involves a driver.
Google also announced that Android Auto’s SDK, which will feature APIs for audio and messaging, will be released “soon.” Twenty-five car manufacturers have promised to build Android-Auto powered cars. That’s a large chunk of the global car ecosystem. The first cars with Android Auto will “roll off the lots” before the end of 2014, according to Google.

Google is working at the start with Spotify and Songza, among others, on the Android Auto music interface:
img_0140
The navigation experience in Google Maps will contain what you expect it to — live traffic, turn-by-turn directions, and voice controls:
img_01441
Regarding communication, messages that are incoming show up as heads-up notifications. Users can tap a button on the steering wheel to reply. Again, the idea here is to keep drivers’ eyes on the road.
It remains to be seen how clean Android in your car will be, but the promise of voice-controlled Spotify in the car I’m in is compelling.

Fractal Design Node 804 RDT Review!

Something great came in today which is the Fractal Deign Node 804, which will be used in a client build. Luckily enough I have a big poke around the case and I am very impressed.

This is a dual chamber design having obviously the Motherboard/GPU on one side and the HDD's/SSD's/PSU in the second chamber. Allowing for some pretty clean cable management.
On of the nifty little thing I like about the case is that you are able to hide your SSD's in the front panel. Which also can house a slim line optical drive. You are able to house up to 8 HDD's in the hanging mounts or if your like me, just remove the cages and use SSD's.

If you are feeling crazy and want to put as many fans as possible you have the mounts for 9 120mm Fans and a 140mm at the rear (PSU Chamber).
If you are moving to the AIO cooler's you are able to fit just about any, you can even fit a Corsair H105 (280mm Rad). For the more extreme of us there is a good amount of room for custom watercooling and I would be definitely interested in moving one of my builds in to this case.  Check out the video below from the ModZoo.

All in all this is a great case I will be posting more of a review once I get some components inside the case, I kind of jumped the gun and got a little excited. So far one of my favourite things about the case has to be its size and dual chambers. Reminds me of the Corsair Air 540 which as we know there is a mini version coming out later this year.

Cougar 700M Laser Gaming Mouse

Something interesting has caught my eye and its a Cougar 700M Gaming mouse this thing looks the part but I am interested to see how well it plays. But when you take into account its budget friendly price tag you should be excited it i currently available for pre-order $89 AU until first of July when it goes back up to $99 which is still not too bad of a price considering you are getting everything you need in a mouse and it looks good whilst doing it.

My experience with Cougar product has been great so far I am loving there fans which are the best bang for your buck, despite the black and orange theme they are perfect. Luckily i have them installed with an Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force so ties in really well.

I think My classic Logitech G9X has stood the test of time and I am in need of a gaming mouse so this is definitely on the table. When it comes to mice though i want something to fit my hands perfectly, so this is something I am going to have to try before I buy, It might not suit me but be perfect for you so don't let that stop you.
