Digi+ VRM with black metallic capacitors and 16-phase Super Alloy Power

ROG Ares III features Digi+ voltage-regulator module (VRM) technology with a 16-phase concrete-core power design and Japanese-made 10K black metallic capacitors, reducing power noise by 30% and enhancing energy efficiency by 15% without generating distracting whines and buzzes, compared to the reference 12-phase Radeon R9 295X. Digi+ VRM also widens voltage-modulation tolerance and improves overall stability and increases overclocking potential.

ROG-themed GPU Tweak and live streaming utility

ROG Ares III comes with GPU Tweak, an exclusive ASUS tool that enables users to squeeze the very best performance from their graphics card. GPU Tweak provides the ability to finely control clock speeds, voltages, fan performance and more in real time from an intuitive user interface, so overclocking is easy and can be carried out with high confidence.

ASUS X99 ROG Rampage V Extreme Motherboard Unveiled – E-ATX Form Factor With Digi+ II VRM Design

ASUS’s next generation and high-performance Rampage V Extreme motherboard has been unveiled. The ROG series flagship motherboard features support for Intel’s next generation Haswell-E processors which are due to launch on Friday this week. ASUS’s X99 ROG Rampage V Extreme is the most high-end motherboard we have so far seen in the X99 motherboard lineup from ASUS which will also include the X99 Deluxe and X99 WS boards.

ASUS X99 ROG Rampage V Extreme Motherboard Unveiled – The Red and Black Beast

The ASUS X99 Republic of Gamers based Rampage V Extreme retains the red and black color scheme which is the original color of the ASUS ROG series products. While many other manufacturers have started to follow this color scheme, it was ASUS who originally started the trend of the red and black colored motherboards. Coming back to the specifications, the ROG Rampage V Extreme is a high-end E-ATX sized motherboard which features the LGA 2011-3 socket which will support Intel’s Haswell-E processors which include the Core i7-5960X, Core i7-5930K and the Core i7-5820K.

The X99 ROG Rampage V Extreme will feature a 8 Phase Digi+ VRM design which boasts several quality grade components to ensure superior stability and overclocking performance. The VRM is surrounded by a large heatsink at the back of which, an 8 + 4 Pin EPS connector configuration can be found to provide power to the LGA 2011-3 socket. The socket is surrounded by eight DDR4 DIMMs which offer up to 128 GB of memory support with speeds of up to 3300 MHz at 1.35V.

The heatsink is interconnected with a I/O panel thermal shielding through a heatpipe which has a large “EXTREME” label engraved on it. The motherboard has four sets of heatsinks. Two for the PWM and I/O Panel, one below the socket and the last one is featured on the X99 PCH. The heatsink below the socket lits up the Republic of Gamers logo in red color when the motherboard is powered on. There are a few OC switches configured along side the 24-Pin ATX connector which include a PCI-e ceasefire switch, Diagnostic LED, MemOk, BIOS Reset, LN2 Mode and Start On/Off switches. There’s also a small M.2 slot configured along side the connector which runs down to the length of the SATA ports.

For storage, the Rampage V Extreme includes 12 SATA 6 Gbps ports and two SATA Express ports. There’s also two USB 3.0 headers and two USB 2.0 headers. Expansion slots include five PCI-e 3.0 x16 slots and an open-end PCI-e 3.0 x1 slot. The SupremeFX audio chip is isolated on its own PCH indicated by a red colored line and offers hd audi through the 7.1 channel audio jack at the I/O panel. The I/O panel is loaded with ports which include 10 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0, a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, WiFi AC connector, 7.1 Channel audio jack, reset button and a ROG connect button.  ASUS bundles the ROG Rampage V Extreme with the OC Panel which is an enthusiast grade overclocking tool built for overclockers offering easier accessibility to several overclocking tools and utilities which can be configured in real time. The pricing for the board is not known at the moment but we can expect a $450+ US range for this bad boy.

ASUS ROG Swift 27' G-SYNC Available for PreOrder Australia

Finally we are able to PreOrder the ASUS ROG Swift 27' G-SYNC monitor, if you are a gamer and wanting a 1440p display that kicks ass then this is it! Hope fully you have an NVIDA graphics card to take full use of the G-Sync feature which this monitor is known for.

Asustek unleashes ROG Crossblade Ranger mainboard for AMD APUs

Perhaps, A-series accelerated processing units (APUs) from Advanced Micro Devices do not offer extreme levels of performance, but since AMD does not really update its top-of-the-range FX-series products, many of its fans turn their heads to the hybrid Fusion chips that feature both x86 and graphics processing engines. In a bid to enable truly high-end gaming desktops based on AMD A-series APUs, Asustek on Thursday unveiled its new ROG mainboard with the FM2+ socket.

Asustek’s Crossblade Ranger is the first FM2+ motherboard that belongs to the Republic of Gamers series of products designed for gamers and performance enthusiasts. The ROG Crossblade Ranger mainboard based on AMD A88X core-logic supports all current and future A-series “Kaveri” accelerated processing units. The platform comes with four DIMM slots, two PCI Express 3.0 x8 slots, one PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot, eight Serial ATA-6Gb/s ports, six USB 3.0 ports and so on.

Like all ROG motherboards, the Crossblade Ranger features Intel Gigabit Ethernet controller with GameFirst III and LANGuard technologies (the network-optimization software assigns top priority to game-data packets, ensuring lowest latency), SupremeFX 2014 audio, auto tuning technology that automatically tunes AMD’s APUs as well as extensive overclocking capabilities. Unlike ROG platforms for Intel Core i-series processors, the ROG Crossblade Ranger does not feature premium ROG advantages in a bid to maintain more or less affordable cost.

While systems powered by the Asus ROG Crossblade Ranger will hardly become true performance champs, especially keeping in mind overclocking potential of the Kaveri chip, they may offer decent performance for numerous use cases, including gaming.

The Asus ROG Crossblade Ranger comes with a ROG mouse mat free of charge. Pricing of the mainboard is unknown, but do not expect it to be too high.

New ROG Z97 Boards

If you had noticed my articles from a few days back regarding Devil’s Canyon processors from Intel, you might have noticed that we were the first to mention that the high-end Z97 motherboards were going to launch in future from various manufacturer’s. Today at Computex 2014, ASUS went ahead and launched those three high-performance motherboards which true enthusiasts were waiting for that include Z97 ROG Maximus VII Formula, ROG Maximus VII Impact and ROG Crossblade Ranger.

ASUS Latest Z97 Boards Include ROG Maximus VII Formula, ROG Maximus VII Impact and ROG Crossblade Ranger

ASUS has launched three high-end ROG “Republic of Gamers” branded motherboards which will be aimed at the overclocking community at different price ranges. We will start off with the high-end ROG Maximus VII Formula motherboard which features the LGA 1150 socket and Z97 PCH.

ASUS ROG Maximus VII Formula

The ASUS ROG Maximus VII Formula is the flagship motherboard of ASUS’s Z97 motherboard lineup featuring the latest version of the ROG ARMOR which includes a strong SECC steel fortifier with termal pad cooling and adopts the CrossChill Copper cooling which offers the option of both air and liquid cooling. Integrated ‘Pin-finned’ heatsinks improve heat dissipation with an increased surface area, while twin G1/4-inch threaded sockets support any standard liquid cooling loop. ROG testing has shown that a liquid-cooled ROG Maximus VII Formula motherboard with CrossChill operates at temperatures up to 23 degrees Celsius lower than air-only cooling.

The motherboard adopts a 8 Phase DIGI+ VRM which is cooled by the massive heatsink that adopts integrated water cooling design. The CPU socket is powered by an 8+4 Pin power configuration while the motherboard itself is powered by the 24-Pin ATX connector. There are four DDR3 DIMMs which offer support of up to 32 GB DDR3 memory with speeds of 3000 MHz (O.C+), right next to the memory slots are two switches for Power On/Off and reset which is accustomed to overclockers and enthusiasts. There’s also a diagnostic LED on the top left corner of the board.

Expansion slots include three PCI-e 3.0 x16 and three PCI-e 3.0 x1 slots. There’s an M.2 SSD connector hidden beneath the armor plating which needs to be removed to equip an NGFF form factor drive offering speeds of up to 10 GB/s (PCI-e x2 speeds). The board comes with a additional mPCIe Combo III card over at the I/O panel that offers 802.11ac wireless B/G/N connection. The PCH is hidden beneath an angular heatsink while the storage includes 6 SATA 6 GB/s and two SATA Express ports which is impressive. A USB 3.0 header connector can also be spotted next to the storage ports. The ROG Maximus VII Formula also includes the latest SupremeFX onboard audio that features 120dB SNR headphone output with a 600ohm headphone amplifier, and renowned WIMA and ELNA audio capacitors. Differential signal processing with OpAMP and EMI shielding reduce electromagnetic interference, too.

ASUS ROG Maximus VII Impact

The second board we have in highlights is the Mini-ITX ROG Maximus VII Impact which retains the design and quality standard of the ROG Maximus VI Impact while improving upon it. The Maximus VII Impact features the LGA 1150 socket and the Z97 express chipset. The motherboard features a right-angled VRM board that comes with a 8+2 Phase Digital PWM and is cooled off by a vertical heatsink with an embedded ROG logo. ASUS went with their flagship red and black color theme for the Impact motherboard, a second heatsink is located on the Z97 PCH. From a design perspective, the motherboard looks alot similar to the ASUS’s Z97 ITX board but the ROG product adopts several new features not before seen in any iTX board. Power to the socket is provided by an 8-Pin connector.

First of these features is the introduction of SupremeFX 2104 impact, an add-on sound card which delivers high quality audio and features Headphone AMP, SupremeFX shielding, 120dB SNR and ELNA audio caps. With such an high quality sound card already provided with the motherboard, audiophiles won’t have to buy a secondary audio card. There’s a mPCIe Combo IV module which adds 802.11ac wireless connectivity and can even support M.2 interface SSDs though one’s which are shorter in length.

The Maximus VII Impact comes with a single PCI-e 3.0 x16 slot which can be used to add in a graphics card. For storage, it offers four SATA 6 GBps ports while two DDR3 DIMM slots offer memory compatibility with capacity upto 16 GB. Now the most interesting part about the Maximus VI Impact is its I/O panel, due to size limitations AMD decided to take off the overclocking switches from the board’s PCB and reconfigured them on a separate Impact control hub which is located on the I/O panel. Tiny but useful, this Impact control hub offers MemOK, Flashback, DeBUG LED and voltage headers in a compact size hub that’s easily within reach and doesn’t require you to open your chassis over and over again to reach the swtiches. Other I/O options include a bunch of USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit LAN, HDMI, DIsplay port, SPDIF and e-SATA. Pricing and release date were not mentioned.

ASUS ROG Crossblade Ranger

The last motherboard in ASUS’s lineup is the ROG Crossblade ranger which adopts a 8 Phase VRM powered by a 8-Pin connector. Now the interesting thing about this board is that its aimed towards the AMD APU crowd and to be precise, the Kaveri APUs. The motherboard comes with the same gorgeous Ranger design scheme of the Z97 counterpart offering a neat red and black color scheme.

Technical overview of the motherboard gives us four DDR3 DIMMs, 8 SATA 6 GB/s ports along with a USB 3.0 header. Expansion slots include three PCI-e 3.0 x16, two PCI-e 3.0 x1 and a single PCI slot. The board comes with the SupremeFX audio scheme and you can see how the audio section of the PCB is isolated from the rest of the board. The ASUS Z97 and FM2+ motherboards are expected to launch in Q3 2014. The exact prices are not known but we’ll update you as soon as we have more information.

Aerocool has been water cooled

The Mini ITX build has been water cooled and running amazing. This is not for the faint hearted and as it did take a lot of planning to get everything into the system. The build is still yet to be completed with some more case modding and cable sleeving, as you can see everything is hidden under the motherboard tray and the original HDD cage has been removed and the pump and res have taken its place.

As you can see it's the ASUS Maximus VI Impact ITX board and it is beautiful, I'm using an XSPC Raystorm CPU cooler which covers most of the board. During the build process the plan was to stick to a white/black/red theme but I think I have gone overboard with the red. So I've ordered some clear tubing and white tubing to see how it looks. 

Planning was essential in this build as there is not a lot of space. There was an issue with having such a large reservoir that the fill port was not accessible with out cutting into the case which is a small compromise to have it working. 

All in all this build idles at 28 degrees with a room temperature  of 27 degrees and under a full load it maxes out at 48 degrees, which I'm my opinion is awesome for an over clocked i5 4670K @ 4.7GHz.
