Apple iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3: Australian Pricing, Release Date

Apple woke everyone up early this morning to perpetuate its obsession with thin, sexy gadgets. The iPad Air 2 is here, and here’s what it will set you back in Australia, as well as when you can lay hands on it!

iPad Air 2

The new iPad Air 2 measures just 6.1mm thin; 18 per cent thinner than the first iPad Air and packs in the new A8x processor for super-fast processing and gaming.
It comes in three storage variants: 16GB, 64GB and the new 128GB tier. All three come with either Wi-Fi only or Cellular connectivity options.
The iPad Air 2 starts at $619 for the 16GB Wi-Fi, and moves up to $739 for the 64GB Wi-Fi, right through to $859 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model.
Adding Cellular capability increases the cost, with the 16GB Cellular model starting from $779; the 64GB Cellular costing $899 and the 128GB Cellular model costing $1019.
All are available for pre-order from tomorrow, and Apple says orders will be shipped from “later next week”. We suspect either Thursday or Friday.
Apple will continue to sell the original iPad Air, starting at $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, moving up to $549 for the 32GB Wi-Fi option. The Cellular iPad Air will cost you $659 for the 16GB model, while the 32GB iPad Air with Cellular will cost $709.

iPad Mini 3

Apple updated the iPad Air today with TouchID capabilities. From the looks of things it’s still running the old A7 processor, however.
Let’s take a look at the Wi-Fi models first. The 16GB iPad Mini 3 with Wi-Fi only will start from $499; the 32GB Wi-Fi will cost $619, while the 128GB option will cost $739.
For those who want to do it with Cellular, you’ll be paying a little extra. The 16GB Cellular iPad Mini 3 starts from $659; the 32GB will cost $779 and the 128GB Cellular costs $899.

iPad Mini 2 and iPad Mini

The original iPad Mini with Retina Display is now being rebranded as the iPad Mini 2. Meanwhile, the very first iPad Mini will continue to be known as such.
Both models will still continue to be sold around the world to give better pricing choices to people looking for a cheap Apple tablet.
You’ll be able to pick up the original iPad Mini sans Retina display for $299 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, or $459 for the 16GB Cellular model.
The Retina display-packing iPad Mini 2 will cost you $369 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version, $429 for the 32GB Wi-Fi version, or $529 for the 16GB Cellular version and $589 for the 32GB Cellular version.

Apples iPhone 6 Pricing Australia

If you are looking at handing your money out to Apple this is the pricing you are going to want to be looking at, with Pre-Orders just around the corner you will be wanting to get prepared. You can also look at some of the contracts coming from Optus and Telstra with special offer for early upgrades:

OPTUS
Offer $200 credit for customers to pay out early cancellation fees.
Up to $250 credit to trade in old phones, depending on model and condition.
Increase from 3GB to 5GB on $80-per-month plan and increase from 5GB to 8GB on $100-per-month plan.
TELSTRA
Offer $200 credit to new customers who sign up to a 24-month contract.
Up to $250 credit on eligible mobile phone trade-ins.
Extra 1 GB of download data, or $1000 in mobile phone calls per month, if they sign up to the 24-month $70-per-month plan before September 16.

This is something that I am not going to be jumping on as it is a little over hyped and I am happy with the LG G3.

G.Skill Ripjaws 4 F4-2400C15Q-16GRR 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 @ $305 AU
G.Skill Ripjaws 4 F4-2666C15Q-16GRR 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 @ $325 AU
G.Skill Ripjaws 4 F4-3000C15Q-16GRR 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 @ $339 AU

Intel Haswell-E i7 5960X, i7 5930K and i7 5820K US Pricing

While we are very close to Second Generation Maxwell architecture announcement, Intel is also preparing for a big launch on August 29th. Today we are going to talk about CPUs.
Haswell-E is just around the corner, and I know many of are planning to replace both CPU and GPU at the same time. For that reason I thought you might be interested in pricing of the new platform.
Intel i7 / X99 Haswell-E pricing:
  • Intel Core i7 5960X 8C/16HT – 40-lane PCI-Express support (x16 + x16 + x8) — $999 US
  • Intel Core i7 5930K 6C/12HT – 40-lane PCI-Express support (x16 + x16 + x8) — $583 US
  • Intel Core i7 5820K 6C/12HT — 28-lane PCI-Express support (x16 + x8 + x4) —– $389 US
Intel i7 5820K looks like sweet spot for single high-end graphics card owners. Now, if you own two high-end cards, or you’re planning to upgrade your rig to CrossFire or SLI, then you should think about i7 5930K, as it will offer two x16 PCI-E lanes. It probably won’t change much in terms of performance, but it’s always good to know you are squeezing all juice from your beloved cards.
My first ever CPU was Intel 486DX and I still use it to this day… as a key chain…
Enjoy the slides.
