iPhone 5.5 inch not coming till Next Year

As the Mini tablets start going down the drain, the focus is increasingly gearing towards larger display smartphones. Users are moving towards larger smartphones as they fulfill the necessity of of a phone and give the pleasure of reading, working, and gaming like a tablet. This actually is a brilliant evolution of gadgets as instead of having three mandatory gadgets, we can now have two and be equally happy –although I am more happy with my 10-incher tablet and a tiny smartphone. Apple is also moving with this shift and is expected to launch two iPhone 6 models both with larger display sizes. The phablet, that is intended to compete against the world famous Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and LG G3, however, might not make it to the consumers this years. As suspected earlier, larger iPhone 6 launch date will most probably occur sometime in next year.larger iPhone 6

Larger iPhone 6 launch date:

Thanks to the ever present Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, we now have a prediction that Apple’s larger iPhone 6 launch date will have to wait until next year. The renowned security analyst with an enviable track record of successfully predicting Apple plans, now claims that productions issues will keep the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 at bay until 2015.

The analyst reveals that iPhone 6 will not be likely released until at least October and possibly not until next year. Kuo claims that Cupertino tech supreme is facing supply constraints on the in-cell touch panels which is already in limited supply for the primary, 4.7-inch iPhone 6model. Analyst also suggests that Apple is facing issues with color unevenness on the metal casing.

“We think the 5.5-inch model will also have issues with the yield rate of in-cell touch panel and color unevenness of metal casing. Indeed, these problems will likely be even more complicated with a larger size. In addition, from a technical perspective, we don’t expect sapphire cover, used for the first time on the 5.5-inch model, will easily pass the drop test near term. We are conservative about 5.5-inch iPhone launching by end-2014. Even if the product is launched in 2014, it is likely to take place after mid-4Q14, which is later than the September-October of consensus, with shipments being lower than consensus of 15- 20mn units.” research note shared by 9to5mac.

A few months back too, we saw reports indicating that Apple may not be able to release both the rumored iPhone 6 variants in a single September launch event due to supply issue. While the larger iPhone 6 launch date will possibly occur before Christmas or next year, 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will likely see a planned September release with iOS 8.
